Cumberland Surgical Associates has a rich history in the treatment of patients of Tennessee who have surgical problems. Our senior partner, Dr. Richard Terry, decided to move to Nashville after finishing his surgical residency in Jackson, Mississippi, rather than returning home to Cookeville. That was in 1977 and we’ve been going strong ever since. Dr. Susan Briley joined the practice in 1994 and was followed by Dr. Maria Frexes in 2002. Dr. Bill Harb, the newest surgeon to join the group, started in 2006.
At Cumberland Surgical, our focus is on our patients. Drs. Briley and Harb are both colorectal surgeons. As such, they care for patients withproblems such as colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as anorectal problems such as hemorrhoids. While the most common problems that our group deals with are colorectal in nature, Dr. Terry has an active general surgery practice, caring for patients with biliary diseases and complex abdominal hernias, in addition to caring for patients with colorectal problems. Dr. Maria Frexes has a long-term interest in surgical oncology and has a thriving practice of breast cancer and melanoma. While our group is diverse, we all have the same goal – effective care for you!
